Meru Woman Representative Karambu Kailemia Disburses Ksh 8.8 Million in Scholarships to Bright but Needy Students

Meru County Woman Representative Karambu Kailemia has disbursed scholarships worth Ksh 8.8 million to 374 bright but needy students. The scholarships aim to support students from Form One through Form Four across the county, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their educational pursuits.

During a ceremony held at her office, Kailemia expressed her commitment to balancing financial support between women’s groups and youth initiatives. “I have been giving a lot of money to women’s groups, but now we will offer equal funds to the youths,” Kailemia stated. This move marks a pivotal shift in her approach to addressing educational needs in the region, demonstrating a clear intention to support a broader spectrum of the community.

Kailemia also emphasized her office’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, particularly concerning the distribution of these scholarships. She assured the public that her office will not entertain any form of kickbacks or corrupt practices. “We are the ones who tolerate corruption, and we have to kill it from the giver and the receiver. No one should ask you for even a coin so that they can process your forms. There will never be kickbacks in my office,” Kailemia declared. This stance is intended to foster transparency and ensure that the funds are utilized solely for their intended purpose—supporting deserving students.
