Narok Residents Urged to Embrace Anti-HPV Vaccination Campaign

Dr. Francis Kiio, the County Director of Health in Narok, has encouraged residents to embrace the anti-Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign following promising uptake among young girls. According to Dr. Kiio, 27.7% of girls aged between 10 and 14 in Narok County have received the full dose of the HPV vaccine this year, with an additional 40.1% having received the first dose and awaiting the second dose after six months.

Speaking to Kenya News Agency (KNA) at his office, Dr. Kiio described the vaccination progress as fair, emphasizing that their primary focus is on schools and girls visiting health facilities to receive the vaccine. This year, the county aims to immunize a total of 118,968 girls across its 182 health centers and 1070 schools. Dr. Kiio highlighted that each sub-county in Narok has been allocated specific targets based on the population of girls aged 10 to 14, with Trans Mara East leading with 79.2% of targeted girls already vaccinated.
