Kenyan Afro-Pop Star Ndegz Releases Debut EP ‘Mr. Bull’

Kenyan Afro-Pop singer-songwriter and producer Ndegz has released his highly anticipated debut EP titled ‘Mr. Bull’. This milestone marks a significant moment in Ndegz’s music career, presenting his first extended body of work that encapsulates his unique music style, artistry, and production prowess. The 7-track EP is a harmonious blend of R&B, Pop, and Hip Hop genres, delivering an authentic, emotional, personal, and relatable listening experience.

The EP’s title, ‘Mr. Bull’, is a nod to his childhood nickname derived from ‘Ndegwa’, which means ‘the bull’ in his native Kikuyu language. Reflecting on the journey of creating this EP, Ndegz expressed his excitement and relief, stating, “It’s been a long time coming! I’m ecstatic to share my sound with the world and my die-hard fans. In three words, this EP is soulful, vulnerable, and addictive.” He described the process as a “true labour of love,” filled with long nights and countless changes, but ultimately a rewarding journey collaborating with some of the most brilliant creatives in the industry.

In conjunction with the EP release, Ndegz unveiled the music video for “Your Love Is Like”, a collaboration with Kenyan rap legend Prezzo. Directed by Ivan Odie and produced by Joe Mahinda, the video showcases an irresistible charm, blending Ndegz’s smooth vocals with Prezzo’s iconic rap lines. The sultry visuals and the infectious beat of the song, combined with heartfelt lyrics, aim to evoke deep emotions and stir the soul.

The EP features several standout tracks, each with its unique flavor. “1 Time” is a dancehall-fused track featuring Kidkay (formerly Kid Kora), celebrating the desire to settle down with a cherished lover, paying homage to long-term celebrity couple Nameless and Wahu. Kidkay also joins Ndegz on “Loving You”, a deep and evocative serenade, and “Fire Blue”, a track capturing the essence of vulnerable love, leaving the lover emotionally exposed.

Ndegz continues to showcase his soulful prowess with heartfelt ballads such as “Your Love Is Like” featuring Prezzo and “Need You”. The EP culminates with “Boss”, a boastful anthem and a banger that leaves a lasting impression. The official launch of the ‘Mr. Bull’ EP took place at an exclusive listening party on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, at Replay Lounge Nairobi in Westlands.
