Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza Disburses Ksh 6 Million in Scholarships to Needy Students

Meru County, Governor Kawira Mwangaza has disbursed Ksh 6 million worth of scholarships to 300 needy students. The scholarships were awarded to children from all wards in Imenti North, Imenti Central, and Imenti South Sub-Counties, ensuring that these students can complete their education without financial strain.

During the ceremony held at Kinoru Stadium, Governor Mwangaza emphasized the importance of education and the role of the scholarship fund in alleviating the financial burden on parents. She noted that the fund aims to support secondary school students with Ksh 10,000 each and college and university students with Ksh 30,000 each. This is in addition to the bursaries that were recently disbursed, showing the county’s commitment to supporting its students.

“The scholarships will ensure that each of these students is educated until they complete their education,” Mwangaza stated. She added that this initiative is part of her administration’s efforts to improve access to education for all learners in Meru County, regardless of their economic background.

The launch of the Meru County Scholarship Fund at Kinoru Stadium saw the attendance of parents of the scholarship beneficiaries and various government officials. This event marked the beginning of the countywide issuance of scholarships, which is expected to make a significant impact on the lives of many students.

Governor Mwangaza took the opportunity to encourage the student beneficiaries to work even harder in their studies. Out of the 4,650 needy learners who applied for the scholarship, only 974 beneficiaries were selected.
