Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed claims of a rift within President William Ruto’s administration, urging Kenyans to focus on nation-building. Speaking at the wedding of Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano’s son, Peter, and his bride Wambui on Saturday, Kindiki emphasized the importance of unity and downplayed any alleged divisions.
“Ignore everything else completely. Don’t fall into the trap of triviality and small issues. We have a business,” Kindiki remarked. He revealed he had been on a brief holiday with the President’s approval and expressed optimism about the year ahead.
The DP urged Kenyans to rally behind President Ruto’s leadership in 2025, describing it as a critical year in advancing the government’s bottom-up transformation agenda. “I feel so energized and I believe that this is the year that all of us will rally support for the President and take Kenya to the next level,” he added.
Kindiki used the opportunity to highlight the administration’s priorities for the new year, which he had earlier shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account. These priorities include sustaining macroeconomic stability, creating jobs, improving economic infrastructure such as roads and internet connectivity, and enhancing social amenities like schools and health facilities.
The DP underscored the significance of building strong families and fostering positive social values. “For our all-round prosperity, we require to supplement this crucial national hardware with the software of positive social values, love for one another and our country, stronger families, and inter-generational solidarity,” he noted.
The wedding ceremony was attended by family, friends, and key government officials, including Cabinet and Principal Secretaries. Kindiki emphasized the need to avoid distractions and focus on the government’s development agenda.
As the festive season ends, Kindiki called on Kenyans to support the government’s efforts in making 2025 a transformative year for the nation. “Let us unite in building a prosperous Kenya by working together and strengthening both our infrastructure and social fabric,” he concluded.
