Suspect in Defiling and Killing Grade 2 Girl Surrenders to Police

A man accused of defiling and murdering a Grade Two girl has surrendered to the police. The suspect, who had been evading capture since the crime was committed last Thursday, turned himself in at Baricho Police Station today.

According to Moses Koskei, the Ndia sub-county Police Commander, the suspect identified himself as the individual wanted in connection with the horrific crime. The young victim’s body was discovered in the Gakungu River, prompting a desperate search for her assailant.

The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. The seven-year-old girl was reported missing on Thursday, July 4, 2024. After an intensive search, her lifeless body was found the next day, leading to a widespread outcry and a rigorous police investigation to apprehend the suspect.

Commander Koskei confirmed that the suspect had been in hiding since the crime but chose to surrender on the morning of July 10, 2024. “The suspect came to Baricho Police Station and confessed to being the person we have been looking for,” Koskei stated.
