Robert Macharia, chairperson of Murang’a SEAL and FKF NEC Member for Murang’a County, has expressed his pride in his team’s performance during their debut season in the FKF Premier League. Despite a challenging season, Murang’a SEAL managed to retain their top-flight status, which Macharia considers a significant.
Murang’a SEAL’s journey to the FKF Premier League began with an impressive performance in the National Super League (NSL) during the 2022/23 season. Finishing second behind champions Shabana FC, the St. Sebastian Park-based team earned their promotion to Kenya’s top football division. This promotion marked a historic milestone for the club and set high expectations for their Premier League campaign.
In an interview with Citizen Digital, Macharia emphasized that the primary goal for Murang’a SEAL was to maintain their Premier League status. “We set a clear objective at the beginning of the season, which was to ensure we remained in the top flight,” Macharia stated. “I am proud to say that we have achieved that goal.”
Macharia acknowledged that the season had its fair share of challenges and that the team’s performance was underwhelming at times. However, he believes that the experience gained during their debut season will be invaluable for the future. “This season was a learning curve for us,” he explained. “We faced strong competition and had to adapt quickly to the demands of the Premier League. These experiences will help us grow and improve as a team.”
As Murang’a SEAL prepares for the upcoming season, Macharia remains optimistic about the team’s prospects. He is confident that the lessons learned and the experience gained will serve as a foundation for a stronger performance next season. “We have a talented squad and a dedicated coaching staff,” he said. “With the right preparations and a focus on our objectives, I believe we can achieve even greater success next season.”
Macharia also highlighted the importance of community support for the team’s success. “The support from our fans and the community has been incredible,” he remarked. “Their encouragement and belief in the team have been a driving force behind our efforts. We hope to continue making them proud in the seasons to come.”
