Embu Traders Demand Action Following Fatal Boda Boda Attack

In Embu town, traders and residents are raising alarm over a surge in insecurity following a tragic incident involving a boda boda rider. On Friday night, tragedy struck near the Embu Level Five Hospital Stage when Anthony Murithi, a boda boda operator, was fatally attacked. Murithi was picking up a customer around 8 pm, intending to transport them to Njukiri, approximately 5 km from Embu town. However, upon reaching Njukiri, a few meters from a police post, the situation took a violent turn. The customer, who had initially requested the ride, turned on Murithi, attacking him and fleeing with the motorbike.

Despite being rushed to the Embu Level Five Hospital with severe head injuries, Murithi succumbed to his injuries a day later. The shocking nature of the attack has left the community in mourning and has intensified demands for increased security measures.

During a funeral meeting, Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji condemned the brutal attack and expressed his frustration over the escalating insecurity.
