Director Trevor, a renowned video director and social media strategist, announced a major rebranding of the “Mungai Eve” YouTube channel, which boasts nearly 800,000 subscribers. Following his breakup with YouTuber Mungai Eve, Trevor revealed that the channel would transition to “Kenya Online Media,” asserting that Eve’s involvement was no longer necessary. He also took control of the “Insta Fame” channel, which has 105,000 subscribers, sparking widespread controversy.
This decision came as a surprise to many, given Trevor’s earlier assurance that he would not claim ownership of the channels even if their relationship ended. During their six-year partnership, Eve had become the face of their brand, with the channels serving as a major source of income. However, the couple publicly announced their split in early 2024, and Trevor ultimately reversed his stance, citing Eve’s behavior during their separation as the reason.
“I had said I wouldn’t take the channel because that wasn’t my intention,” Trevor explained. However, he accused Eve of disrespectful and uncooperative actions, including making him wait outside their home for money to fund his move and insisting on inspecting his belongings before his departure.
Trevor further claimed that Eve financially manipulated him, forcing him to beg for his share of their joint resources. He revealed that he had initially planned to leave their home and belongings to Eve, along with the house they built for her mother in the village. But her actions, he said, pushed him to reclaim the channels he had built from scratch.
He detailed the financial strain he faced during the breakup, stating that the funds Eve sent were insufficient to cover his moving expenses, which included rent (Sh. 65,000), curtains (Sh. 50,000–70,000), and movers (Sh. 10,000). “She knew the amount wasn’t enough, yet she sent so little,” Trevor lamented.
Feeling betrayed after sacrificing for their shared life, Trevor’s decision to rebrand and reclaim the channels was seen by many as an act of retaliation, sparking intense online debate.
