Nairobi is gearing up for an extraordinary charity concert on February 15, 2025, as internationally renowned reggae artists Alborosie and Don Campbell headline a groundbreaking event at the KICC’s Tsavo Ballroom. The concert aims to raise awareness and support for Kenya’s deaf community while delivering an unforgettable musical experience.
Joining the headline acts are Kenya’s own Nazizi, Wyre, and the Gravitti Band, promising a diverse lineup of performances. This event, organized by Dutch social enterprise The Long Trail’s Roots and Culture Travel brand, Deaf Centre Kwale, Mtaani.com, and King Lion Sounds, will use music to promote inclusion and challenge misconceptions about deafness.
“This concert is about more than music,” explains Jos Wesemann, Managing Director of The Long Trail and a lifelong advocate for deaf communities in Africa. “It’s an opportunity to bring people together, raise awareness, and celebrate the potential of deaf individuals.”
Innovative features will ensure inclusion is at the forefront. Deaf community members will serve food and drinks using sign language, and attendees will be encouraged to order in sign language, creating a truly interactive experience. On-site workshops and booths will teach basic sign language and showcase disability inclusion, climate action, and food security initiatives.
Highlighting the event’s uniqueness, promoter Prince Otach notes, “This is a platform for people from all walks of life to celebrate unity and support a great cause.”
Alborosie, making his African debut with a full band, and Lovers’ Rock legend Don Campbell, known for hits like Storm Is Over, have both expressed strong support for the cause.
Proceeds will fund critical social programs for deaf communities in Kwale County and Nairobi, tackling harmful misconceptions about deafness and promoting inclusion.
Don’t miss this powerful fusion of music and social change.
