Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur has provided a reassuring update on his health after an alarming incident during a match against Liverpool, which saw him collapse unexpectedly while chasing the ball at a corner in the first half. After receiving extensive treatment, Bentancur was carefully placed onto a stretcher and taken off the pitch. Spurs later confirmed that he was conscious and speaking at half-time, and he was transported to the hospital for further assessment.
In a message shared on his Instagram story, Bentancur expressed his gratitude for the well-wishes from fans and teammates. “All good, guys! Thank you for the messages,” he wrote, adding, “Congratulations for the victory boys!!!”
The match saw Tottenham secure a narrow 1-0 victory, with a late goal from Lucas Bergvall. Liverpool was left frustrated after Bergvall avoided a second yellow card for a tackle on Kostas Tsimikas, who had already been substituted off when the goal was scored.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou praised his team for their resilience, especially after the distressing incident with Bentancur. He highlighted the team’s ability to regroup and adapt, keeping Liverpool, the Premier League leaders, to a rare shut-out despite the adversity they faced. Postecoglou expressed his pride in the players’ efforts, noting that they had to reorganize and push through the emotional challenge of the situation.
