Kharkiv, one of Ukraine’s largest and most important industrial cities, was again the target of Russian military aggression on Sunday when a guided bomb struck a high-rise residential building, injuring at least 28 civilians, including three children. A Devastating Strike in the Early Hours
According to Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov, the bomb struck a multi-story residential building, setting it ablaze. “The hit caused a fire in a residential high-rise building,” Syniehubov confirmed through a statement on the Telegram messenger app. Firefighters and emergency response teams rushed to the scene to rescue those trapped inside and to extinguish the flames.
Reports from the scene describe a chaotic aftermath. Families, many of whom were still inside their apartments when the bomb hit, scrambled to safety as smoke and flames engulfed the building. Several residents sustained injuries from falling debris, while others were hurt in their attempts to escape through the stairwells.
Three children were among the injured, underscoring the indiscriminate nature of Russia’s attacks on civilian infrastructure in the region. Medical personnel have stated that the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Local hospitals have been struggling to keep up with the influx of injured civilians as attacks on the city have intensified in recent months.

Kharkiv, a city of nearly 1.5 million people before the war, has been a focal point in Russia’s campaign to assert control over eastern Ukraine.
