President William Ruto has called for a unified effort from all sectors of society to ensure the future of Kenya’s youth remains bright, amid the many challenges they face today. Speaking at a church service in AIC, Koiwa Town, Konoin, Bomet County, on Sunday, Ruto emphasized the importance of education, mentorship, and guidance in helping the younger generation navigate the complexities of modern life.
The President underscored that the responsibility of guiding and protecting the youth is not solely that of the government but must involve a concerted effort from parents, religious leaders, and politicians alike. “We do not have the luxury of a blame game or pointing fingers. We should all secure the future of our children, it is our responsibility,” Ruto said. He called on leaders and community members to work hand in hand to provide the youth with the necessary tools to succeed, warning against the destructive paths that can lead to issues like drug abuse and violence.
Ruto’s remarks align with his broader vision of a nation where young people are equipped to contribute positively to society. “We should mind about the next generation. We should educate them and provide mentorship and guidance. We should not let them get into traps, drugs and things like femicide,” he urged. He further stressed that a supportive environment, especially from parents, is crucial in shaping responsible citizens.
Also present at the event were key leaders, including governors Hillary Barchok of Bomet and Erick Mutai of Kericho, along with various Members of Parliament (MPs) from across the country. Their presence at the event highlighted the shared concern for the welfare of the youth and the role that all leaders must play in securing their future.
Ruto also reiterated his commitment to addressing societal challenges, such as abductions and violence, which disproportionately affect the youth. Just days earlier, in Homa Bay, he had vowed to end abductions, emphasizing the need for a secure environment where young people can thrive. “I want to ask parents, these children are our blessings from God. Every parent should take care of their children, and as a government, we will do our part. We are going to stop the abductions so that the Kenyan youths can live in peace,” Ruto stated.
The President’s call for mentorship, responsibility, and discipline within families comes as a timely reminder that the youth’s future is in the hands of those around them, and collective action is needed to ensure a prosperous Kenya for the generations to come.
