President William Ruto has called for unity and the abandonment of tribalism and divisions in Kenya. During his speech on Wednesday, Ruto urged all leaders and citizens to work together towards the nation’s development. He emphasized that the time for hatred, division, and tribalism in Kenya should be over, and that the country must unite to create a brighter future for all.
Ruto’s call for unity was made during the launch of the extension of the secondary dyke for the River Nzoia flood control project in Budalang’i, Western Kenya. The president stressed that when the country unites, the nation can achieve significant milestones in various sectors, particularly education, agriculture, and infrastructure. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that all Kenyan children have access to quality education and that agriculture is given the necessary attention to improve the livelihoods of citizens.
“The country will only move forward if we all work together,” Ruto stated. “When we unite, just as the leaders from the Western region are doing with me, we will collectively work towards improving education, agriculture, and ensuring that electricity is accessible to all parts of the country. This is how Kenya will develop.”
The president further cited the collaboration between leaders from different political backgrounds, demonstrating that even though they may have been elected through different factions, they now work as one team. He used the example of Raphael Wanjala, who was elected on an ODM ticket, and Paul Otwoma, both of whom had once been on opposing sides but are now united in their commitment to serve the country as a united team.
Ruto’s remarks were a direct appeal to leaders and Kenyans to set aside their differences for the greater good of the nation. “Kenya no longer wants divisions or tribalism. We must unite to build a strong nation,” he said.
The President was accompanied by several key leaders, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, during the third day of his five-day tour of Western Kenya.
Through this tour, Ruto aims to further his development agenda for the country while reinforcing the importance of unity in achieving national progress. His message is clear: Kenya’s future is bright if all work together as one team, leaving behind the divisive forces of tribalism and division.
