Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured Kenyans that the government’s transformational agenda will yield visible results starting this year, with substantial progress expected by 2025. Speaking on Thursday, Kindiki outlined key milestones achieved by President William Ruto’s administration over the past two years and expressed optimism about the country’s future.
“This is the year that the hard and difficult task of transforming our country will start yielding returns,” Kindiki emphasized. He noted that interventions aimed at steady macroeconomic recovery have already borne fruit, with a stronger Kenyan shilling, declining inflation, reduced interest rates, and progressively decreasing costs of fuel and essential commodities.
Kindiki highlighted flagship programs such as the Universal Health Coverage initiative, Taifa Care, and ongoing education reforms. These initiatives are expected to significantly minimize household expenses on health and education, leaving families with more disposable income.
Looking ahead to 2025, Kindiki said the government will intensify efforts in microeconomic recovery, job creation, and wealth generation. “The state will further focus on reforms targeting key value chains in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and the blue economy,” he said.
The completion of transformative projects such as special economic zones, affordable housing schemes, modern markets, ICT hubs, and County Aggregation and Industrial Parks is also projected to stimulate economic growth and increase household incomes.
Kindiki underscored the need for collective effort in building a cohesive and prosperous Kenya, urging citizens to embrace the opportunity for renewal that the New Year presents. “Now is the time for each citizen to work harder towards a better future and a more cohesive nation,” he said.
His call to action aligns with the administration’s vision of creating a society free from fear and want. With sustained focus on economic reforms and grassroots development, Kindiki remains confident that the Kenya Kwanza government’s ambitious plans will bring lasting benefits to Kenyans.
As the nation embarks on this transformative journey, 2025 promises to be a defining year for the realization of President Ruto’s vision for a more prosperous and equitable Kenya.
