Bonfire Adventures CEO Sarah Mtalii sparked a flurry of speculation after announcing she would no longer use her husband Simon Kabu’s surname. The entrepreneur, who previously went by the name Sarah Kabu, unveiled her new identity as “Sarah Mtalii,” a Swahili moniker meaning “Sarah the Tourist.” Officially, she has reverted to her maiden name, Sarah Njoki Nyaga, signaling a shift in both personal and professional branding.
Addressing her followers on social media, Sarah explained, “I’m rebranding my name. My official name is Sarah Njoki Nyaga, and I will no longer be using the name Sarah Kabu. From today, refer to me as Sarah Mtalii, my brand name online.” She also expressed gratitude for the support she received during a difficult period, noting that her decision stemmed from deep personal reflection.
Interestingly, Simon Kabu, her estranged husband, has also adopted the “tourist” branding, dubbing himself “Simon Kabu The Tourist” during a recent interview. The couple’s shared passion for travel and tourism has evidently continued to shape their individual identities, even as they appear to be navigating separate paths.
Marriage Struggles and Separation
Sarah revealed that she had moved out of their matrimonial home earlier in the year, following a widely shared video of a woman, allegedly her, engaged in a heated argument with a househelp. Clarifying the incident, Sarah explained, “There is a girl claiming to have been my housegirl, and she alleges I beat her at my former home, which she called ‘Pharaoh’s house’ or ‘Egypt.’ This happened before I moved out.”
The symbolic reference to Egypt highlighted Sarah’s struggles in her marriage. Reflecting on her past advice to women to stay in marriages despite infidelity, she issued a heartfelt apology: “I want to apologize for encouraging women to stay in marriages with infidelity. If it’s not working, just leave.”
Once celebrated as a power couple in the travel industry, Sarah and Simon now seem to be embracing new journeys individually and professionally while leaving the chapter of their marriage behind.
