The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a scheduled power maintenance for Wednesday, January 29, 2025, across selected regions in Nairobi, Kilifi, Narok, and Kwale counties. The maintenance will take place between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM in the affected areas, and it aims to enhance service reliability and maintain the electrical infrastructure.
In Nairobi County, the planned outage will affect parts of Dagoretti Road and Kikuyu Road. Power will be off from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, impacting several locations including Dagoretti Children’s Home, Dagoretti Market, Gitiba Primary, Kirigu Primary, Gachui, Waithaka Shopping Centre, Kirigu Cemetery, Patheneous, and the surrounding areas. Businesses and residents in these neighborhoods are encouraged to plan ahead and adjust their operations accordingly to mitigate the impact of the outage.
In Kilifi County, power maintenance is scheduled to affect the Gongoni Salt Works area in Malindi from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Locations like Krystal Line Salts Gongoni, Malindi Salt Works, Kensalts Gongoni, Gongoni Market, Kakuyuni Market, and Savanna Residence will experience interruptions. The outage will also affect other areas such as Sabaki, Mijikenda Residence, KBC, Marekebuni, Marafa Market, Garashi Dispensary, and Wakala Market, among others. Residents and businesses in these locations should take necessary precautions to manage the interruption in power supply.
In Narok County, scheduled maintenance will impact the Rotian, Kisiriri, and Tipis areas from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This includes locations such as Motonyi, Rotian, Kisiriri, Naisoya, Enengetia, Enabelbel, Olokirkirai, Tipis, Oloropil, Topoti, Empatpat, Olchorro, and other adjacent regions. The outage in these areas will last slightly less than the other counties, so it is advisable for residents to make provisions for the shorter, but still significant, power cut.
Finally, in Kwale County, power maintenance will affect Shamu and its surrounding areas from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Impacted locations include Kentaste, Shamu, Kona Musa, Babla, Mwapala, Maasai Corner, and nearby regions.
KPLC advises customers in these areas to take precautionary measures during the maintenance period, including treating all power lines as live and exercising caution around electrical appliances. Businesses and residents are urged to prepare in advance to minimize disruptions to daily activities.
