A Somali national, Hashim Dagane, also known as Hashim Khalif, has been charged with the brutal murders of four women who were allegedly abducted from Eastleigh between October 21 and October 30, 2024. The charges were presented during a virtual court session before Justice Kanyi Kimondo on Tuesday, where Dagane pleaded not guilty to all counts of murder.
The victims, identified as Dahabo Daud Said (alias Waris), Amina Dhahir, Musayba Abdi Mohamed, and Deka Abdi Noor Gorane, were murdered in different locations across Machakos and Nairobi counties. According to the prosecution, Dahabo was killed during the nights of October 21 and 22 in the Kyumbi area of Machakos County. Amina and Musayba were murdered the same night within Parklands, Nairobi. The final victim, Deka, was killed between October 29 and 30 at Valley Heights Apartments in Lavington, Nairobi.
Dagane is currently held at the Nairobi Area Remand and Allocation Prison. During the session, he requested bail, but the prosecution indicated their intent to oppose the release, citing reasons they plan to detail in an affidavit. Justice Kimondo directed the prosecution to file their affidavit within seven days and scheduled the case for mention on February 11, 2025, for further directions.
The murders, described by investigators as heinous and premeditated, have drawn significant public attention due to the brutality and the diversity of crime scenes. Law enforcement agencies have been working to piece together evidence linking the accused to the deaths. Reports suggest the case may involve organized efforts to target the victims, though the exact motive remains unclear.
The prosecution’s opposition to bail reflects the gravity of the charges and concerns over public safety. They are expected to argue that Dagane poses a flight risk due to his foreign nationality and the severity of the accusations.
As investigations continue, the families of the victims await justice. The case has highlighted the challenges of ensuring accountability in high-profile criminal cases and the need for thorough investigations to deliver justice to victims of violent crimes.
The upcoming court proceedings will determine whether Dagane will remain in custody as the case progresses. Authorities have urged members of the public with relevant information to come forward to assist in the case.
