PSV Eindhoven staged a dramatic comeback to eliminate Juventus from the Champions League, securing a 3-1 victory after extra time in the second leg of their knockout phase playoff. The Dutch side overturned a first-leg deficit to advance to the last 16 with a 4-3 aggregate triumph.
Juventus had entered the match with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, but PSV turned the tide when veteran winger Ivan Perisic opened the scoring in the 53rd minute. The Italian side responded quickly as Timothy Weah equalized ten minutes later, restoring their aggregate lead. However, Ismael Saibari struck in the 74th minute to put PSV ahead on the night and level the tie on aggregate.
Despite numerous chances to win the match in regular time, PSV had to wait until extra time to seal their progress. In the 98th minute, Ryan Flamingo capitalized on a defensive lapse to score the decisive goal, completing a remarkable turnaround and sending Juventus crashing out. The result made Juventus the third Italian club to be eliminated from the competition, following AC Milan and Atalanta.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain stormed into the last 16 with a commanding 7-0 victory over Brest, completing a staggering 10-0 aggregate win. Having already secured a 3-0 first-leg advantage, PSG controlled the game from the start but took time to break the deadlock. Bradley Barcola opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and just before halftime, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia doubled their lead with a close-range finish from a tight angle.
The second half saw PSG assert their dominance even further. Vitinha made it 3-0 before the hour mark, followed by goals from Désiré Doué, Nuno Mendes, and Gonçalo Ramos. The rout was completed four minutes from time when Senny Mayulu became the seventh different PSG player to find the net, sealing a dominant performance. PSG now await a last-16 showdown against either Liverpool or Barcelona.
Borussia Dortmund also confirmed their place in the next round with a comfortable 3-0 aggregate win over Sporting. The second leg in Germany ended in a goalless draw, but Dortmund’s first-leg dominance meant the outcome was never in doubt.
Sporting, having suffered a heavy defeat at home, rarely threatened to mount a comeback. Dortmund controlled the match, with Serhou Guirassy this season’s top scorer in the Champions League missing a second-half penalty. Emre Can had a goal disallowed for offside, but the German side never looked in danger of conceding.
Dortmund now await the winner of the tie between Aston Villa and Lille, with their last-16 opponent set to be determined in the upcoming draw.
