Bandari FC head coach Ken Odhiambo has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure maximum points when they face Tusker FC on Sunday. After a disappointing 3-2 loss to Talanta, Odhiambo has urged his players to bounce back and take full advantage of their home ground.
The coach acknowledged that Tusker will come into the match determined to prove a point, especially after being held to a draw by Shabana in midweek action. However, he remains optimistic that his squad is well-prepared to put up a strong performance.
“We know Tusker was held to a draw by Shabana midweek, and they’ll come here with a point to prove, but we are ready to give our best and aim for all three points,” he said.
A significant boost for Bandari ahead of the match is the return of key players. Goalkeeper Bryne Omondi and midfielder Robert Onyango have regained fitness and are available for selection. The club has also re-signed experienced custodian Farouk Shikhalo, reinforcing their squad as they aim to finish the 2024-25 season on a high note.
“I’m really pleased to have them back; they’ll add the strength we’ve been missing in our recent matches,” Odhiambo stated.
Bandari’s recent form has been inconsistent. After securing three consecutive wins, they have suffered back-to-back defeats against Talanta and KCB. This slump has left them in seventh position with 32 points from 22 matches, but they still have an opportunity to break into the top four.
Tusker, on the other hand, has been struggling to secure wins despite maintaining an unbeaten streak. The brewers have drawn their last four matches, including a goalless encounter against league leaders Police. They also frustrated Gor Mahia with a solid defensive display but failed to clinch three points. Their most recent match against Shabana saw them salvage a draw in stoppage time.
Currently sitting second in the standings with 40 points, Tusker needs a win to keep pace with the title race. The match against Bandari presents a crucial test of their resilience and ability to turn draws into victories.
Elsewhere, Shabana will host Kakamega Homeboyz at Gusii Stadium in a highly anticipated clash. The Glamour Boys are eager to make home advantage count as they seek to recover from their recent draw against Tusker. With their passionate supporters rallying behind them, they will be aiming for a much-needed win to boost their league position.
Kakamega Homeboyz, meanwhile, enter the match in high spirits following a convincing 3-1 victory over Murang’a Seal. Currently placed fifth in the league, they have been in solid form and are pushing for a top-four finish.
Francis Baraza’s team has showcased impressive attacking prowess in recent games, and they will be looking to capitalize on any defensive weaknesses from Shabana. A win in this fixture could strengthen their bid for a strong finish to the season.
With both matches carrying significant implications for league standings, football fans can expect thrilling encounters as the teams battle for crucial points.
