Victor Wanyama has shared his admiration for two of Nigeria’s brightest football talents Victor Boniface and Ademola Lookman. The former Tottenham Hotspur star, widely regarded as one of Kenya’s greatest football exports, recently gave his thoughts on the Super Eagles duo in a video posted on social media.
When asked to choose the most exciting player between Boniface and Lookman, Wanyama’s face lit up as he gave his verdict.
“I have to say Ademola Lookman,” Wanyama said with a smile. “He has been doing well. He won the Europa League for Atalanta, and also in the AFCON he did well. He’s been doing well in the qualifiers. So, he’s on fire right now.”
Lookman’s incredible form for both club and country has made him one of the most talked-about players in Nigerian football. The Atalanta forward played a crucial role in his team’s historic Europa League triumph, cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most in-form players. His numbers this season have been nothing short of exceptional 17 goals and six assists in just 30 matches showcasing his attacking prowess.
Despite selecting Lookman as the most exciting player at the moment, Wanyama also acknowledged the talent of Victor Boniface. The Bayer Leverkusen striker has proven his quality even in the face of injury setbacks this season. At just 24 years old, Boniface has registered 10 goals and one assist in 19 games, reinforcing his status as one of the most promising young strikers in Europe.
“At the moment, I’d have to choose between Victor Boniface and [Victor] Osimhen, who is doing well also,” Wanyama added.
While Lookman’s performances have grabbed the headlines, Boniface has also impressed, particularly under the guidance of Bayer Leverkusen’s manager Xabi Alonso. His strength, technical ability, and finishing prowess have made him a crucial player for the German side. Had it not been for injuries, Boniface might have had an even more explosive season.
Victor Osimhen, another name Wanyama mentioned, remains a key figure for Nigeria and his club. Currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, the lethal striker has continued his fine goal-scoring form, netting 20 goals and providing five assists in 27 appearances.
Wanyama’s comments highlight just how much Nigerian football is thriving on the global stage. The Super Eagles boast a generation of attacking talent capable of competing at the highest level, with Lookman, Boniface, and Osimhen leading the charge. Their performances in club football and on the international stage have made them fan favorites, further raising the profile of Nigerian football worldwide.
