Yanga SC striker Aziz Ki is set to marry Tanzanian socialite Hamisa Mobetto in a highly anticipated three-day wedding ceremony this month. The wedding, scheduled for mid-February, has sparked debate among football fans, with some expressing concerns about the timing and Mobetto’s past.
Ki and Mobetto publicly confirmed their relationship in January 2025, frequently sharing affectionate moments on social media. However, many were surprised by their quick decision to wed, especially since the footballer is in the middle of a demanding season with Yanga.
The couple announced their wedding plans in a joint Instagram post, outlining a three-day event that will begin with the dowry payment on February 15. This will be followed by the Nikkah, an Islamic marriage ceremony, on February 16, and a grand celebration on February 19.
Despite the excitement surrounding the event, opinions remain divided. Some fans are skeptical about the union, mainly due to Mobetto’s controversial past and previous relationships. The socialite, a mother of two, was previously involved with Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz, with whom she shares a child.
One fan took to social media to express doubt, predicting that the marriage would not last: “Aziz Ki has been bewitched, and I am 100% sure this will end in tears.” Others voiced concerns about the impact of the wedding on Ki’s football career, especially given the club’s tight match schedule.
“In February 14, Yanga play KMC. On February 15, Aziz Ki is paying dowry. February 17, Yanga play Singida, and on February 19, he has his wedding celebration. I think the player should just be given a short break to prepare for his big week,” wrote a Yanga fan.
Others warned that the marriage might negatively affect his performance on the pitch, with one stating: “He will end up flopping as a footballer.” Another supporter expressed concerns about Ki’s finances, claiming that his contract earnings might not last: “All his money will remain in Tanzania, and he will go back home just as he came.”
Some were more sympathetic, with one comment reading: “I feel sorry for the poor guy.” Others suggested that there was no real marriage in the works and called on people to “pray for the lost boy.”
Ki joined Yanga SC in 2022 from Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas for a reported $150,000 fee. Since then, he has become an essential player for the team, helping them secure a league title. His outstanding performance last season, in which he scored 21 goals and provided eight assists, attracted interest from several clubs, including South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs and Algeria’s CR Belouizdad.
To secure his services, Yanga offered him a lucrative two-year contract extension, which he signed, ending speculation about his future.
As the wedding date approaches, it remains to be seen how this new chapter in Ki’s personal life will affect his football career. While some fans remain optimistic, others fear that this major life decision might have long-term consequences for the talented striker.
