The State Department for Basic Education has embarked on an ambitious project to enhance educational infrastructure across Nyamira County. In a move set to benefit 68 schools, the department has awarded tenders for construction and rehabilitation works, aimed at improving the learning environment for thousands of students.
A circular issued by the State Department ,details the deployment of site officers divided into four teams. These teams will oversee the construction activities in four constituencies within the county, ensuring the efficient execution of the project.
Team One, led by Waguro, will focus on Borabu Constituency. They will visit Esise Primary, Manga Girls, and St Peters Kahawa Secondary, among other institutions such as Nyansiongo Boys, Nyakwerema, and Rimanoti.
Team Two, under the leadership of Philip Lenjo, will coordinate activities in North Mugirango Constituency. Beneficiaries in this area include Kenyoro, Nyamauro, Nyagokiani, and Matongo secondary schools, along with various primary schools.
Team Three, headed by Isaac Kamau, will oversee projects in West Mugirango Constituency. Schools such as Mwongoris and Nyakemincha secondary schools, as well as Nyamwetureko, Nyagachi, and Nyakemincha primary schools, are set to benefit.
Team Four, led by Chris Ndenga, will be responsible for Kitutu Masaba Constituency. Their focus will be on Riyabe, Nyantato, Kenyere, and Suguta primary schools, as well as Nyabigege, Nyasumi, and Kiabiraa secondary schools.
The teams are scheduled to visit the sites starting today, July 2, and conclude their assessments by July 5.
The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Ezekiel Machogu, announced last month during a public gathering in Nyamira County that the upgrade project is funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arabic Economic Development (KFAED), amounting to KSh1.1 billion.
“The Ministry of Education has received financing of KSh1.1 billion from the Kuwait Fund for Arabic Development towards new facilities and the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure in schools within Nyamira County,” stated the CS.
The primary objective of this project is to enhance equal access to education and improve the quality of teaching and learning. By upgrading the facilities, the project aims to provide a conducive learning environment, thereby fostering better educational outcomes.
