Authorities are investigating three separate incidents in which bodies were discovered under unclear circumstances in Nairobi, Kakamega, and Kwale counties. The cases, reported between February 1 and February 3, have raised concerns about the safety and security of residents.
Supermarket Employee Found Dead in Nairobi
In Nairobi’s Mwiki area, the body of Elijah Mungai Ndichu, an employee of a leading supermarket, was found in his house on February 3. Ndichu had not reported to work since February 1, prompting concerned colleagues to visit his home.
Upon arrival, they found his door locked from the inside. After breaking in, they discovered his lifeless body on the floor, with blood oozing from multiple body openings. Authorities were alerted, and detectives have since launched an investigation into his death. No arrests have been made so far, and the body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Decomposed Body Found in Lugari, Kakamega County
On the same day, a decomposing body of an unidentified male was found in Itumbu village, Lugari, Kakamega County. The discovery was made on a farm, with the victim’s feet and arms missing. The face was partially decomposed, making identification difficult for local residents.
Police arrived at the scene and transferred the body to the Village of Hope mortuary, where it awaits postmortem examination and identification. Authorities suspect foul play and are investigating the possible motive behind the apparent murder.
Murder Mystery in Lungalunga, Kwale County
Meanwhile, in Lungalunga, Kwale County, the body of 43-year-old Rachael Pascal Bahati was discovered under a roadside culvert in the Bondeni area. The victim, a resident of Mwangulu B village, was found wrapped in a sack, with multiple injuries.
Reports indicate that Bahati had been involved in a land dispute with two individuals who had previously sold her a piece of land but later sought to reclaim it. Her injuries were gruesome, with her head skinned, eyes and ears removed, signaling a brutal murder.
The body was transported to Msambweni County Referral Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted. Investigators are working to establish a link between the land dispute and her murder, as they pursue potential suspects.
Investigations Ongoing
Police across the three counties have intensified investigations into these deaths, with authorities urging the public to report any information that could aid in the resolution of these cases. The motive behind each incident remains unclear, but law enforcement is treating them as homicide cases until proven otherwise.
