Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning to criminals across the country, urging them to surrender voluntarily before law enforcement agencies take action. Speaking during a public address in Kerio Valley on Sunday, Murkomen stressed that the government would take a tough stance on crime and its perpetrators.
Murkomen reiterated that the Kenya Kwanza administration is fully committed to ensuring public safety and combatting criminal activities in every corner of the nation. He emphasized the government’s firm resolve to eliminate all forms of crime, declaring, “I will work extremely hard, under your leadership, Your Excellency (President William Ruto), with the team in the security sector to ensure that our country is safe and that there is peace in every corner of this nation.”
One of the central points of his warning was aimed at individuals in possession of illegal firearms. Murkomen urged them to surrender their weapons to the state, warning that failure to do so would result in serious consequences. His call for the voluntary handover of firearms was particularly directed at criminals operating in Kerio Valley, where security concerns have been heightened in recent months.
The CS further emphasized that law enforcement agencies have been instructed to actively pursue all individuals involved in criminal activities, promising that no one will be spared in the operation. “We will not care whether you come from my village or my neighbourhood, whether you are my friend or we serve together. Our sole responsibility is to keep Kenya safe and ensure that criminals are apprehended,” Murkomen said.
The government’s approach to tackling crime, according to Murkomen, will be relentless and comprehensive. Those who surrender will be treated with leniency, while those who resist will face the full wrath of the law. This warning reflects the administration’s determination to restore law and order, offering a clear message that criminals have no safe haven in Kenya.
The call to action highlights the growing urgency to address insecurity across the country, especially in regions like Kerio Valley, which have been plagued by violence and illegal activities. As the government steps up its efforts, Murkomen’s statement signals a new chapter in the fight against crime, where no one, regardless of their status, will be above the law.
