Suspected Thief Arrested in Nyeri with Human Skull, Leads Police to Dumped Body

Police in Nyeri County arrested a man suspected of theft who was found in possession of a human skull. The arrest, which took place on Tuesday in the Classic area near Nyeri town, has since led to the discovery of decomposing human remains, prompting an intensive investigation by local authorities.

The suspect, identified as Joseph Maina, was apprehended by members of the public who suspected him of attempting to steal from a residential property on the outskirts of Nyeri town. According to a police report, the vigilant residents detained Maina and upon searching his belongings, they made the gruesome discovery of a human skull among his assorted items.

“Upon search on his assorted items, a human skull was found therein,” stated the police report. The discovery immediately raised concerns and the police were called to the scene to take over the investigation.

Joseph Maina, believed to be approximately 20 years old, was promptly interrogated by the police. During the interrogation, Maina revealed information that led the authorities to a Napier grass farm located about half a kilometer from the Nyeri police station. It was at this location that the police made an even more disturbing discovery.

“A search was conducted and decomposing human body parts of an unknown African of unknown sex and age were recovered,” the police report further revealed. The recovered remains, in an advanced state of decomposition, were subsequently transported to Nyeri mortuary for further analysis, identification, and a post-mortem examination.
