Kenya’s celebrated reggae host, Tallia Oyando, known affectionately as the “Night Nurse,” has announced her departure from Citizen TV’s One Love reggae show, marking the end of an era for the show’s devoted fans. After eight unforgettable years, Tallia shared the emotional news via her Instagram on January 20, 2025, expressing her gratitude for the unwavering support of her fans and the reggae community.
Tallia’s journey with One Love began on October 22, 2016, when she joined Coco Soboo Moto to co-host the vibrant reggae show. Initially airing from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tallia was responsible for anchoring the Reggae Roots segment from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, before Coco Soboo Moto took over with the Reggae Top 10 segment. Over the years, Tallia’s infectious energy, deep passion for reggae music, and genuine connection with her audience earned her a dedicated following, making One Love a beloved destination for reggae enthusiasts.
Reflecting on her departure, Tallia took to Instagram to share her heartfelt message: “After 8 beautiful years of love, music, and family on One Love at Citizen TV, it’s time for a new chapter. Grateful for every one of you who made this journey unforgettable. Like Joseph Hill said, ‘Love shines brighter than the morning sun.’ This isn’t goodbye; greater things are ahead.”
While Tallia didn’t reveal her specific plans for the future, her statement hinted at exciting new opportunities. “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; none but ourselves can free our minds,” she wrote, quoting the iconic lyrics of Bob Marley, further emphasizing her desire to continue inspiring and uplifting her audience through music.
Last week, Tallia subtly signaled the approaching change, suggesting that the final One Love episode was fast approaching. She reassured her loyal fans that her departure didn’t mean leaving the reggae world behind, but rather stepping into new and exciting horizons.
As Tallia moves on to the next chapter of her career, her legacy with One Love remains etched in the hearts of many. Her powerful connection with fans, infectious energy, and love for reggae music will undoubtedly continue to inspire, making her departure a bittersweet yet hopeful moment.
