As the world gears up to celebrate International Women’s Day, leading smartphone brand Vivo has launched an ambitious initiative, ‘KanyaGyaan,’ aimed at bridging the gender gap in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. This initiative seeks to provide young Indian women, particularly those from underrepresented communities, with opportunities to pursue careers in these critical domains.
With technological advancements accelerating at an unprecedented rate, there is an increasing demand for skilled professionals in STEM. However, women continue to face significant barriers in accessing these fields, often due to financial constraints and societal norms. Vivo’s KanyaGyaan project is designed to address these challenges by providing mentorship, skill development programs, and industry exposure to young women, equipping them with the tools necessary for a successful career in STEM.
The initiative has already made a tangible impact, with 150 women benefitting from its programs. These women have been able to overcome financial and societal barriers that traditionally hinder their entry into STEM careers. By offering hands-on training, networking opportunities, and access to industry professionals, Vivo aims to create a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
Speaking about the initiative, a Vivo spokesperson highlighted the company’s commitment to fostering gender equality in STEM. “We believe that talent knows no gender, and every young woman should have an equal opportunity to excel in STEM careers. Through KanyaGyaan, we are dedicated to empowering young women by providing them with the necessary skills, guidance, and exposure to thrive in these fields.”
