Cardiothoracic surgeons at Tenwek Mission Hospital in Bomet County, located in the South Rift, are making significant strides in saving the lives of children with congenital or rheumatic heart disease. These children, often from humble backgrounds, have successfully undergone life-saving heart surgeries at the rural-based referral mission hospital. However, due to the high cost of these procedures, many face weeks of waiting, a delay that can sometimes result in tragic outcomes.
To address this urgent need, Tenwek Mission Hospital is organizing a marathon on September 7 to raise funds and increase awareness about heart disease and the importance of cardiac care in the region. The event aims to unite community members, healthcare professionals, and supporters from various sectors to support this critical cause and ensure that more children receive the timely medical intervention they need.
