Alexys Pinto, a 23-year-old woman from Texas, has been accused of shooting her boyfriend, Elvis Munoz, 24, in a violent incident that occurred on September 5. According to the details that emerged later, Pinto allegedly lured Munoz to a field under the pretense of revisiting a place where they once enjoyed watching sunsets together. However, what started as a seemingly harmless request quickly escalated into a terrifying and violent confrontation.
The day began with Pinto being upset over an argument involving Munoz’s work. Munoz, a mechanic, had a client show up at their home with a car that needed fixing. Pinto reportedly became enraged after this interaction, leading her to physically lash out. She attempted to hit Munoz and kicked one of their dogs, prompting Munoz to intervene and try to calm her down. Despite his efforts to de-escalate the situation, Pinto’s anger only intensified.
In a sudden shift, Pinto allegedly asked Munoz if he remembered a place they had once visited to watch the sunset. Munoz did remember and was told by Pinto to take her there immediately. They drove to an intersection near State Highway 288 and Airport Boulevard. Once they arrived, Pinto reportedly got out of the car and began running away down a hill. Munoz, confused but wanting to avoid further conflict, followed her. At this point, Pinto allegedly told him to “teach me about deer hunting,” a comment that led to an abrupt and violent change in behavior.
Without warning, Pinto allegedly shot Munoz in the chest. In a state of disbelief, Munoz tried to flee, but Pinto continued firing, hitting him in his hand as he attempted to escape. Munoz, now seriously wounded, fled further, only to collapse on the ground. As he lay there, bloodied and in immense pain, he feared he was about to die. He recounted thinking, “Oh my God, it’s not my time, what did I do?” as he waited for Pinto to shoot him again.
Instead of finishing the job, Pinto allegedly made a phone call, trying to cover up her actions by claiming Munoz had shot her. Munoz, still conscious, denied the accusation and pleaded for help. He begged Pinto to call an ambulance, to which she reportedly responded with an apology: “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do you like that, I didn’t shoot you in the right places!” Despite the apology, Munoz, fearing for his life, shielded his head with his hand, only to be shot again in the hand.
In a final act, Munoz managed to convince Pinto to help him back into his truck, and together they drove to a nearby Citgo gas station. There, bystanders assisted in getting Munoz the medical attention he desperately needed. His injuries were severe, but he was fortunate to survive.
Pinto was arrested on September 20, after authorities discovered a warrant for aggravated assault during an unrelated disturbance call. Although her bail was initially set at $75,000, it was later reduced to $10,000. Munoz, still in recovery, expressed his bewilderment at Pinto’s actions. He revealed that he had always worked hard to care for her and had even sacrificed his own well-being for her happiness. Despite his efforts, Pinto had been controlling and jealous, isolating him from family and friends. He was left grappling with the question of why she had acted so violently.
Now, as he continues to recover, Munoz has expressed fear not only for his own safety but for that of his loved ones. He describes Pinto as a danger to his friends, family, and anyone who might cross her path, particularly since she knows where many of his loved ones live. Munoz’s once peaceful relationship with Pinto has left him grappling with the trauma of an inexplicable and violent betrayal.
