Mlolongo, Kenya – The chilling abduction of three men linked to an ongoing land dispute has left their families reeling with despair and unanswered questions. The victims an Muema, Justus Mutumwa, and another unidentified individual were reportedly taken by masked assailants under unclear circumstances. As fear grips their loved ones, calls for urgent action and justice grow louder.
A Desperate Cry for Answers
For Monica Muema, the nightmare began on December 16 when her brother, Allan Muema, disappeared. Allan, a 28-year-old entrepreneur who sold women’s bags at a local stall, was allegedly abducted by men in masks driving a vehicle with obscured number plates.
“He was taken by unknown people, wearing masks, and the car had a hidden number plate. That is how my brother went missing,” Monica shared, her voice trembling with grief.
Monica struggles to comprehend why her brother became a target. “He is just a hustler, a young man trying to make a living. He’s not involved in anything suspicious.”
An Agonizing Search
Monica’s ordeal deepened as her search for help turned into a bureaucratic maze. She has visited multiple police stations across Kiambu County, desperately showing her brother’s photograph in hopes of any lead.
“Anywhere we go, we are told he hasn’t been seen. At one point, we were directed to Mlolongo to record an OB (Occurrence Book), which we did, and left his picture there. But still, nothing,” she recounted, her frustration palpable.
Another Family’s Pain
Duncan Chalo is living the same nightmare. His brother, Justus Mutumwa, vanished last Monday while on his way to work in Kamulu.
“He was arrested by masked men presenting themselves as policemen. I don’t think anyone else can take someone in such a manner except the police,” Chalo lamented.
Justus’s phone has been switched off since the day of his disappearance, adding to the family’s anguish. Duncan’s exhaustive efforts to locate his brother in police stations and prisons across Nairobi and Kajiado have yielded no results.
“The lack of urgency from the authorities is frustrating. My brother is out there, and we don’t know if he is safe or even alive,” he said.
A Third Case
For Ndeti Mwau, the loss of his brother under similar circumstances has left him in turmoil. His brother, a motorbike operator, was reportedly hijacked while working.
“We do not know where he is. The abductors had a vehicle and wore masks. This is a nightmare for our family,” Mwau said, his voice breaking with emotion.
Rising Concerns Over Security
These disappearances come amid heightened tensions over a land dispute in the area, raising fears of targeted abductions. Families are now urging authorities to act swiftly in unraveling the mystery and reuniting them with their loved ones.
Monica, Duncan, and Ndeti are united in their plea: “Even if they are no longer alive, we just want their bodies. We need closure. This suffering is unbearable.”
