Tragedy in Homa Bay: Form 4 Student Allegedly Kills His Mother After Supper

Homa Bay, Kenya – A Form Four student from Nyatoto Mixed Secondary School has been detained following the brutal murder of his mother in Kayanja Sub Location, Homa Bay County. The distressing event occurred on the evening of Thursday, June 6, leaving the local community in disbelief and mourning.

Assistant Chief Moses Sirawa of Kayanja Sub Location confirmed the harrowing details of the case. The suspect, a secondary school student, reportedly arrived home from school and, after having supper, allegedly attacked his mother. The neighbors, alerted by the commotion from the widow’s house, rushed to the scene, but tragically, the 39-year-old woman had already succumbed to her injuries.

According to Sirawa, the initial attack involved strangulation, followed by a vicious assault with a machete. The reasons behind the student’s violent outburst remain unclear, though investigators suspect underlying mental health issues may have played a significant role.
