Tragedy Strikes as Religious Event Crush Kills Over 120, Mostly Women

In a tragic turn of events at a religious gathering in northern India, over 120 people, predominantly women, lost their lives in a devastating crush. The incident occurred during a prayer meeting led by a self-proclaimed spiritual leader, Bhole Baba, in Mughal Garhi village, Uttar Pradesh. The gathering, initially expected to host a fraction of the actual turnout, swelled to approximately 250,000 attendees, overwhelming the venue’s capacity and infrastructure.

As the crowd surged forward to seek blessings by touching Bhole Baba’s feet, chaos erupted, exacerbated by the lack of adequate crowd control measures. Reports indicated that many victims tragically fell into an open sewer adjacent to the venue, compounding the scale of the disaster. Officials reported 121 confirmed fatalities and 35 injuries, with a significant number of casualties being women and children.
