The aviation industry continues to evolve, with airlines expanding their networks, increasing flight frequencies, and introducing enhanced services. From Air India’s additional flights to Nairobi to Lufthansa’s premium Allegris cabin availability, here’s a look at the latest updates in air travel.
Starting March 30, Air India will increase its service to Nairobi by adding a fourth weekly flight on Sundays. The airline currently operates three return flights per week between Delhi and Nairobi on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The additional flight reflects growing demand for travel between India and Kenya, a key market for business and tourism.
This move aligns with Nairobi’s increasing prominence as an aviation hub in Africa, offering enhanced connectivity between the two regions.
Lufthansa is extending its premium Allegris cabin to more destinations, enhancing the passenger experience on long-haul flights. Beginning March 30, travelers can book Allegris on routes from Munich to San Diego, Bengaluru, San Francisco, Chicago, and Shanghai. Additionally, service to New York-Newark will launch on April 15, while flights to Charlotte will introduce Allegris from August.
The Allegris cabin, already available on Lufthansa’s Cape Town route, offers a modernized in-flight experience with spacious seating and improved amenities, making long-haul journeys more comfortable.
Starting June 1, Emirates will reintroduce a third daily flight between Dubai and Rome, increasing capacity on this busy route. The new flight, EK099, will depart Dubai at 03:30 and arrive in Rome at 07:40. The return flight, EK100, will leave Rome at 11:30 and reach Dubai at 19:20.
This expansion adds over 2,300 weekly seats, catering to the strong demand for travel between the Middle East and Europe. With Rome being a major destination for business and tourism, Emirates’ decision underscores the importance of this route.
Less than three months after launching its Sydney-Istanbul route, Turkish Airlines has announced plans to expand to daily services by January 12, 2026. The airline will gradually increase flight frequency in 2025, moving from four to five flights per week in mid-June and six per week by late October.
This expansion highlights the growing demand for direct connections between Australia and Turkey, catering to both leisure and business travelers.
Virgin Atlantic and WestJet are enhancing their partnership with an expanded codeshare agreement, effective March 30. The agreement coincides with Virgin Atlantic’s launch of a new route between London Heathrow and Toronto Pearson International Airport.
This collaboration will provide seamless connections from the UK to 13 Canadian cities, including Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Ottawa. Additionally, both airlines will co-locate at Toronto Pearson’s Terminal 3, allowing passengers to transfer smoothly without rechecking baggage.
Customers have been able to book tickets for both airlines on a single itinerary since February 17. A loyalty program integration between Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and WestJet Rewards is also expected later this year.
Brussels Airport has unveiled ‘The View,’ a new 2,000 sqm business lounge at Pier B, dedicated to non-Schengen flights. Officially opened on February 18, the lounge offers premium comfort for long-haul travelers, featuring a 360-degree tarmac view, private sleeping cabins with showers, and a bar.
Following a partial opening in June 2024, the lounge is now fully operational, accommodating up to 400 passengers. This addition enhances Brussels Airport’s offerings for premium travelers, providing a luxurious space for relaxation and business.
These airline developments reflect the continued growth and adaptation of the aviation sector. As travel demand increases, airlines are expanding routes, improving cabin experiences, and strengthening partnerships to offer passengers greater convenience and comfort. Whether it’s additional flights, premium in-flight services, or new airport lounges, these updates contribute to a more seamless global travel experience.
