The Israel Ministry of Tourism has announced the appointment of Yoram Elgrabli as the new Tourism Commissioner for North America. In his new role, Elgrabli will be responsible for overseeing business partnerships, marketing strategies, and public relations across the United States and Canada. His primary focus will be on leading Israel’s tourism recovery, as the country looks forward to a resurgence in international travel.
Elgrabli steps into this role at a crucial time, with American and Canadian airlines resuming flights to Tel Aviv after a period of disruptions. Expressing his enthusiasm, he stated,
“With American and Canadian legacy airlines announcing the resumption of flights to Tel Aviv, and Israel looking ahead with optimism and hope for the future, I am committed to strengthening the connection between North America and Israel. I am incredibly thankful to our dedicated partners and the many visitors who have continued to travel to Israel, even during challenging times. Building on this unwavering support, I am determined to work towards driving tourism growth, aiming for record-breaking numbers both now and in the years to come.”
This appointment signals Israel’s commitment to revitalizing its tourism sector, which has been impacted by global challenges in recent years. By focusing on strategic partnerships and aggressive marketing efforts, Elgrabli aims to attract more North American visitors to Israel.
Elgrabli brings over 20 years of experience in the aviation and tourism industries. Before joining the Israel Ministry of Tourism, he held key leadership roles at El Al Israel Airlines, Israel’s national carrier. His most recent position was as the General Manager of North and Central America, where he managed marketing, sales, and operations for the airline in these regions.
Throughout his tenure at El Al, Elgrabli held multiple senior roles, including:
- Chief of Staff, Sales and Customers Division
- Managing Director for Western Europe
His extensive background in airline management, customer relations, and sales strategy makes him well-equipped to take on the challenge of boosting tourism numbers from North America to Israel.
The appointment of Elgrabli has been met with enthusiasm from Israel’s tourism authorities. Ami Alon, interim deputy director general at the Israel Ministry of Tourism, expressed confidence in his ability to lead the sector’s recovery:
“We are extremely pleased to have Yoram join the Israel Ministry of Tourism as commissioner to North America. With his decades of experience within Israel’s tourism sector, we know he is positioned to excel in his new role to help tourism recover.”
His predecessor, Yael Golan, had been serving as the interim commissioner since Eyal Carlin transitioned to a new role at El Al last summer.
With Elgrabli at the helm, Israel’s tourism ministry is expected to focus on strengthening travel connections, expanding promotional efforts, and restoring confidence in Israel as a top destination for American and Canadian tourists.
Israel has long been a key travel destination for visitors seeking historical, religious, and cultural experiences. With tourism being a significant contributor to Israel’s economy, Elgrabli’s leadership will play a critical role in ensuring a strong post-pandemic recovery and driving growth in visitor numbers.
As North American airlines resume flights to Israel and global travel regains momentum, all eyes will be on Elgrabli’s strategies and initiatives to bring Israel’s tourism sector to new heights.
