A team of six Kenyan motorcyclists embarked on an ambitious journey to circumnavigate the African coastline, and after more than four months on the road, they have finally reached Angola. Their journey, which began on December 12, 2024, has been filled with various challenges, including mechanical breakdowns, injuries, harsh weather conditions, and the physical demands of such an extensive trip. Despite these obstacles, the riders have remained resolute, continuing their mission to raise funds for a worthy cause.
The team’s goal is to raise money to support over 500 students in Kenya, helping to keep them in school through the establishment of the LOGOS Educational Endowment Fund. As they make their way through Africa, the riders are visiting various countries, spreading awareness of their cause while raising funds to support the education of students in Kenya. The journey includes stops in several countries, including Ethiopia, Djibouti, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, and South Africa. Their ultimate objective is to touch the four extreme points of the African continent, marking the northern, southern, eastern, and westernmost points of Africa.
The riders’ arrival in Angola, following their journey from Zambia, was a significant milestone. Despite the language barrier Portuguese being the primary language in Angola the team was welcomed warmly, and they expressed excitement about the adventure that lies ahead. One of the riders, Havana, mentioned the challenges of navigating the linguistic differences, but the overall reception in Angola has been positive. They are excited to continue their journey, sharing their passion for the cause and their love for the Kenyan children benefiting from the scholarship fund.
The highlight of the journey will be visiting the four extreme points of the African continent. These locations include Al-Ghīrān Point in Tunisia (Northernmost), Cape Agulhas in South Africa (Southernmost), Xaafuun Point in Somalia (Easternmost), and Almadi Point in Senegal (Westernmost). These landmarks will serve as symbolic milestones for the team, representing their determination and commitment to both their personal goals and the educational mission they are supporting.
The LOGOS Educational Endowment Fund, which was established in 2008 by Pastor Nick Korir of Nairobi Chapel, aims to provide more than just financial support for students. The fund is focused on mentorship, character development, and holistic transformation, with the vision of educating students not just for academic success but for life and eternity. The scholarship goes beyond academic performance, aiming to empower students and help shape them into leaders who can contribute positively to their communities.
As the riders continue their adventure, they are celebrating not only the milestones of their trip but also personal life achievements along the way. The journey is a testament to their resilience, dedication, and the power of education in transforming lives. The riders are determined to make a lasting impact, and their inspiring story of passion and perseverance is helping to raise awareness for the cause, bringing them closer to their goal of supporting the education of 500 students in Kenya.
