Two people lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Monday evening in Matungulu, Machakos County. The accident, which involved a motorcycle and a private vehicle, occurred along the Nairobi-Kangundo Road near the Savanna area.
According to a police report, the victims a motorcycle rider and his pillion passenger died on the spot following the collision with a Toyota Voxy. The authorities have since identified the deceased as likely residents of Kinyui location in Matungulu subcounty.
Following the accident, traffic officers searched the victims and found them in possession of approximately 2 kilograms of bhang. The confiscated drugs were taken as evidence by law enforcement officials.
The crash resulted in significant damage to both vehicles, with the wreckage of the motorcycle and the car being towed to Tala Police Station for further examination. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were transported to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted before their official identification and release to their families.
Authorities have launched investigations to determine the circumstances leading to the accident. While the presence of bhang on the victims raises further questions, police are primarily focusing on reconstructing the events that led to the crash.
