Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday graced the wedding of Wendy Bochere Okengo and Frankline Kashindi Luseno, held in Nairobi County. Wendy, the daughter of Dr. Fred Matiang’i, the former Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, tied the knot with Frankline in a beautiful ceremony attended by several dignitaries, friends, and family.
In his speech at the event, Kenyatta extended heartfelt wishes to the newlyweds, advising them on the values essential for a successful marriage. He highlighted the importance of love, trust, and mutual respect in nurturing a relationship. “Marriage is a wonderful journey that requires love, trust, and respect from both partners. Wendy and Frankline, as you begin this new part of your lives, I hope your home is filled with peace and joy, and may your relationship be an example for others,” Kenyatta remarked.
The former President also used the occasion to emphasize the critical role of family in building strong societal bonds. He noted that the celebration was a reminder of the values that unite communities, reinforcing the idea that family is the cornerstone of a harmonious society. “Today’s celebration reminds us of the importance of togetherness and the values that bind us as a community,” he added.
The wedding ceremony was attended by a host of prominent figures, including Kalonzo Musyoka, the former Vice President of Kenya, who has remained a key political ally of Kenyatta. Also present were veteran politician Sam Ongeri, Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo, former ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru, and former Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Karanja Kibicho. Their presence underscored the significance of the event, which was not only a personal celebration for the Matiang’i family but also a high-profile gathering with strong political and social undertones.
The union of Wendy and Frankline marked a joyous moment for the families, as well as a time of reflection on the values that shape Kenya’s social fabric. The newlyweds, surrounded by their loved ones, were warmly wished success in their marriage, with hopes that their journey would inspire others in the country.
