The United States Bureau of African Affairs has expressed grave concern over the reported abduction and transnational rendition of prominent Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye and his associate, Obeid Lutale. Alleged Abduction and Rendition
Besigye was reportedly abducted in Nairobi, Kenya, on Saturday and transported to Uganda, where his wife alleged he was detained in a military facility. He subsequently appeared before the Makindye General Court Martial under heavy military escort on Wednesday. Alongside Lutale, Besigye faces charges including illegal possession of firearms and attempting to procure arms abroad.
