Social media influencer and businesswoman Vera Sidika made headlines by hosting an extravagant divorce party to mark the end of her marriage to singer Brown Mauzo. Sharing glimpses of the celebration on social media, Vera expressed that, for her, a divorce party was more therapeutic than traditional therapy.
Videos from the event, which boasted all the elements of a lively and wild party, were shared by Vera, with captions like “Welcome to my DIVORCE PARTY!!!! 🥵💃🏼 Theme; Ratchet 😂 Doing a divorce party is better than therapy.” She also made a statement declaring “MARRIAGE IS A SCAM 🚨 TRENDSETTER 😩.”
The guest list included members of The Real Housewives of Nairobi cast and a select group of friends. Vera, embracing her newfound freedom, proclaimed during the festivities, “Free like a bird, let’s get this party started. Marriage is a scam you all.”
However, Vera clarified that her opinion on marriage being a scam was personal and subjective, acknowledging that while it might not resonate with everyone, it was her perspective.
Furthermore, she defended her lifestyle choices, accusing Kenyans of hypocrisy for condemning behaviours they secretly engage in themselves. She stated, “Kenya tunapenda usherati, but act holy when we see someone else openly living that life carefree. Not that we hate it. We just hate their guts. But do the same thing behind closed doors.”
