Trader Joe’s is back with the next big trend: cooler bags. The grocery store’s latest hit is a summertime upgrade from their viral mini tote bags, and it’s causing quite a stir among shoppers.
The new mini insulated tote bags, priced at $3.99 each, have quickly become a must-have item, already appearing on resale sites for up to $100. Available in teal and magenta, these 1.5-gallon bags feature a zipper top and were introduced in stores on Tuesday. However, their availability is limited, and they’re only expected to be in-store for a short time, according to Trader Joe’s confirmation to Axios.
These bags are perfectly sized for everyday use, making them ideal for use as lunchboxes. The craze for these bags has been so intense that some stores put them out for sale a few days early, and others have already placed purchase limits to manage the high demand. For instance, a South Florida Trader Joe’s store has limited purchases to three of each color per shopper.
A company spokesperson told USA TODAY that while some stores may have already sold out of the new mini insulated totes, there will be more available later this summer. This reassurance may calm some of the frenzy, but for now, the $3.99 tote bag’s viral popularity and subsequent resale boom show no signs of slowing down.
