Vybz Kartel, the renowned Dancehall star, is facing severe health challenges in prison. His lawyer, Isat Buchanan, revealed that Kartel is battling Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder, and two heart conditions. Buchanan’s recent visit found Kartel in poor health, worsened by a 23-hour daily lockdown due to an alleged cellphone infraction.
Endocrinologist Karen Phillips confirmed that Kartel’s Graves’ disease has persisted for seven years without remission. Buchanan described the conditions of Kartel’s confinement as dire, with inadequate ventilation and basic amenities, exacerbating his health problems. Kartel’s health issues are not new; he has had several health scares over the years, including severe chest pain and thyroid-related problems.
Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is serving a life sentence for the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. Despite past appeals, his current health situation is particularly alarming. Kartel’s son, Likkle Vybz, expressed deep concern, highlighting the emotional toll on their family.
Buchanan emphasized the urgent need for medical intervention, warning that without surgery, Kartel’s life is at risk. The harsh prison conditions, including limited access to water and poor circulation in a hot cell, further endanger his health. Kartel’s family and fans remain deeply worried about his well-being, as his legal and health battles continue.
