BBC presenter Waihiga Mwaura gained significant attention on Wednesday, June 5th, after his interview with President Ruto on the Focus on Africa segment went viral.
The articulate media personality was lauded by Kenyans for his insightful interview with President Ruto, who is in South Korea for the Seoul Africa Summit.
The interview took place on the sidelines of the two-day summit, where Mwaura probed why President Ruto chose to attend despite his previous statement that he would not participate in such summits between Africa and another single country. Ruto had argued that these meetings offered limited opportunities for engagement and expressed a preference for the African Union to represent the continent.
Among those who praised Waihiga for his journalistic excellence was his wife, Joyce Omondi, who also noted that he was celebrating his birthday.
“Happy birthday @waihigamwaura! 🎉🤩✨ I celebrate you for your heart, your mind, your spirit. Waihiga, who has turned 40, responded to his wife’s heartfelt tribute with appreciation.
