A woman was shot and wounded during a robbery in Mukurweini, Nyeri County, on Saturday night. The incident occurred in Kiahungu Township as the Mpesa attendant was walking home after a day’s work. The woman, who was in the company of another woman, was attacked by two men, one of whom was armed with a pistol.
According to police reports, the assailants seized Sh160,000 in cash, three mobile phones, and assorted goods from the woman. In an attempt to resist the robbery, the victim was shot in the right leg. The assailants fled the scene, leaving the woman bleeding on the ground. Fortunately, the other woman managed to escape unharmed.
The victim was quickly rushed to Mukurweini Sub County Hospital for medical treatment, where she is reported to be in stable condition. Police suspect that the victim was being trailed by the robbers before they launched the attack. Investigations are underway as authorities work to track down the suspects behind the violent incident.
In another separate case, a man was found with gunshot wounds in a thicket in Ngomeni, Magarini, within the Shamba La Mungu area near Mwingi National Reserve. The 38-year-old man was discovered lying injured with a gunshot wound on his lower abdomen. Police confirmed the attack was carried out by unknown assailants, who managed to flee the scene. The victim was taken to Ngomeni Hospital and later referred to Mwingi Level IV Hospital for further treatment.
In Kisumu County, police are investigating a murder following a fatal altercation between two men over a wheelbarrow. The victim, 23-year-old Edward Otieno Oyuru, sustained head injuries during the fight and later succumbed to the wounds at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital. His body was moved to the hospital morgue, and police are searching for the suspect involved in the incident.
