A tragic accident at a construction site in Juja has left one worker dead, highlighting ongoing concerns about safety in the construction industry.
Gibson Kamande, a 35-year-old casual laborer, was among nearly a dozen workers at the site when he slipped and fell from the second floor of a building under construction. Witnesses reported that Kamande sustained severe head injuries from the fall. He was rushed to Gatundu Level Five Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The body was transferred to the mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination. Authorities, including officials from the National Construction Authority, the police, and county government representatives, have launched an investigation into the incident. The case adds to a growing number of construction site accidents, prompting renewed calls for developers to enhance safety measures and ensure compliance with labor protection regulations.

Meanwhile, police are also probing two separate murder cases reported in Machakos and Homabay Counties.
In Syokimau, Machakos County, a 30-year-old man lost his life after being brutally stabbed and slashed during a fight at a meat joint on the night of February 3. Following the attack, the victim managed to stagger into a nearby bar, where he collapsed on a chair while bleeding profusely. He had suffered a deep chest wound and injuries to his left hand. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries before receiving medical attention.
Police responded swiftly to the scene, securing the area and collecting forensic evidence. The victim’s body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy. Authorities have since arrested a suspect linked to the attack, who remains in custody as investigations continue. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court soon.
In Othoro, Homabay County, residents of Kamwagi village woke up to the shocking news of the death of Peter Okelo Odawo, a 60-year-old man. His lifeless body was discovered in his compound, bearing visible injuries. According to preliminary reports, Odawo was tending to his property when two individuals, allegedly known to him, launched a fatal attack. The suspects fled the scene, leaving police to piece together the circumstances of the killing.
Law enforcement officers are actively pursuing the assailants, and efforts to track them down are ongoing. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the body has been moved to the mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination.
