At least 15 Palestinians, including 10 members of the same family, were killed in two separate Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip overnight, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency.
The first strike targeted the Baraka family’s home in Bani Suhaila, located east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. Mahmud Bassal, spokesperson for the civil defence, said via Telegram that their crews had “recovered the bodies of 10 martyrs and a large number of wounded” from the destroyed house and neighboring residences.
In a second attack reported later, five more people were killed when two homes were hit in Tal al-Zaatar in northern Gaza. Emergency crews retrieved the bodies from the rubble, continuing efforts amid ongoing hostilities.
The Israeli military has not issued an immediate comment regarding the strikes. However, Israel has recently intensified its aerial and ground operations across Gaza since resuming its offensive on March 18. The renewed campaign has seen a surge in attacks, particularly in southern and northern regions of the besieged Palestinian enclave.
The latest fatalities come just a day after the civil defence agency reported at least 40 deaths from Israeli strikes, many of them occurring in overcrowded camps for displaced civilians. The rising toll highlights the continuing human cost of the conflict, with civilians bearing the brunt of the violence.
As Gaza’s hospitals and rescue teams remain overwhelmed, international aid groups and human rights organizations have continued to call for urgent humanitarian access and de-escalation.
The conflict, now in its tenth month, has devastated much of Gaza’s infrastructure and displaced hundreds of thousands of residents, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis. With no immediate end in sight, pressure is mounting on global leaders to mediate a ceasefire and protect civilian lives.
