Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory message to Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, celebrating his election as the new President of the Gabonese Republic.
In his message, President Xi emphasized the enduring traditional friendship between China and Gabon, highlighting the deepening political mutual trust and successful cooperation across various sectors in recent years. He noted that the two nations have consistently supported each other on matters involving their core interests and major national concerns, strengthening their bond on the international stage.
President Xi expressed his commitment to further enhancing China-Gabon relations under Nguema’s leadership. He underscored the importance of leveraging the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to drive the steady and sustained development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
The Chinese leader stated his readiness to work closely with President-elect Nguema to build upon the existing strong foundation, ensuring that the collaboration continues to bring tangible benefits to the people of both nations.
Gabon, located in Central Africa, has maintained a strong relationship with China for decades, particularly through economic partnerships, infrastructure development, and diplomatic collaboration. Nguema’s election is seen as an opportunity to further solidify these ties, especially within the broader framework of China-Africa cooperation.
President Xi’s message reaffirms China’s strategic interest in Africa and its commitment to fostering closer bilateral relations through mutual support, investment, and shared development goals.
As Nguema prepares to take office, observers anticipate that Gabon-China relations will continue to flourish, contributing to greater regional stability and economic growth.
