Zambian E-Commerce Construction Startup, Raises $400k in Pre-Seed Funding

Bosso, a pioneering Zambian startup specializing in e-commerce solutions for the building and construction sector in Africa, has successfully secured $400,000 in its latest pre-seed funding round. Established in 2022 by Chisepo Chirwa, Mukopaje Singogo, Ibn Kafwanka, and Salwa Shamapande, Bosso has quickly emerged as Zambia’s largest online marketplace for building materials, serving hardware retailers and contractors across the nation.

The platform aims to democratize access to high-quality and affordable building materials, thereby bolstering Zambia’s construction industry. Since its inception, Bosso has integrated more than 1,000 hardware stores throughout Zambia, supplied essential raw materials to over 200 homebuilders, and facilitated the transportation of construction supplies to four of the country’s ten districts.

This significant achievement was made possible by a diverse group of investors, including angel investors and prominent venture capital firms such as Launch Africa Ventures, Renew Capital, Change-Com, and Leonard by Vinci. The infusion of $400,000 in pre-seed funding will fuel Bosso’s ambitious plans to innovate its product offerings and expand its operational footprint within Zambia’s domestic market.

Looking ahead, Bosso is poised to deepen its impact within Zambia’s burgeoning construction landscape, leveraging technological innovation to streamline procurement processes and improve supply chain efficiencies. With a strong foundation laid by its founding team and the backing of strategic investors, Bosso is well-positioned to lead the transformation of the construction materials procurement sector in Zambia and beyond.
